How Long is the Tour and Where Do We Meet?
A little under two hours in length and approximately 1.1 miles in distance. Tours depart from the north side of Hayden Flour Mill, located on the SOUTH EAST CORNER of Rio Salado Rd. and Mill Ave.
Will I See a Ghost?
Our guides will take you to the buildings on Mill Avenue that have the highest reports of paranormal activity, but we cannot guarantee any spooky sightings. Our tours are for entertainment and education, so we go above and beyond to provide an informative experience for believers and sceptics alike!
Are There Bathrooms?
There are currently no public bathrooms on Mill Avenue, so we strongly encouraging using your own before arriving.
Can I Bring My Kids?
Mill Ave Ghost Tours does not have an age restriction, so children of all ages are permitted HOWEVER we ask that you use discretion when deciding whether or not to include the whole family. Our stop at Casa Loma includes a deep dive into one of Arizona State University’s most horrific murders, which might be disturbing for children under the age of 13 or anyone with a traumatic experience with violence.
Will We Enter Any Buildings?
All of the current stops along the tour are currently occupied by residential or commercial inhabitants. They REALLY don’t like flocks of tour guides in top hats barging into their establishments, so we will be remaining on the sidewalks.
Are Tours Ever Cancelled?
Mill Ave Ghost Tours operate rain or shine! In the event of a guide failing to appear due to an emergency (such as a car accident), guests will have the option to wait for a replacement guide to arrive or reschedule for another day. Tours require a minimum of two people to embark, so any solo travelers whose tour day is not adequately booked will have the opportunity to reschedule or get a full refund. We reserve the right to cancel any guest’s ticket without a refund if they behave inappropriately toward our guides, guests, or Tempe residents.
Can I Cancel My Tour?
We are happy to honor guest cancellations up to 24 hours before the booked tours.
Is the Tour Accessible?
The sidewalks of Mill Avenue are relatively flat, so wheelchairs and other mobility aids are usually not an issue to accommodate. If you have any accessibility problems on your tour, please let your guide know immediately!
What Happens if I’m Late?
Our tour guides are instructed to wait no more than 5 minutes after start time for any tardy guests. You are welcome to catch up by looking for the costumed guide on Mill Avenue, but no refunds or discounts will be given in the case of late arrivals.
Where Should I Park?
If you are arriving by car, the closest parking lot to our meeting point at Hayden Flour Mill is the Mission Palms North Lot located at 281 S Mill Ave, Tempe, AZ 85281 ($2 per hour). It is also at the same intersection as the Mill Avenue light rail stop, so you can also arrive by public transit.
Will There be “Jump Scare” Actors?
No, Mill Ave Ghost Tours does not employ any actors to jump out at guests, nor do we rely on any fake gimmicks to imitate paranormal encounters. Our guides will engage you in theatrical storytelling of real events, personal experiences, and historical facts. That said, we cannot monitor or regulate the behavior of drunk college students.
What is the Pet Policy?
Service animals are always welcome on our tours. Well behaved and non-distracting pets are allowed BUT if your furry friend becomes too disruptive or causes a medical reaction for another guest, you will be asked to leave without a refund.
Should I Tip My Guide?
Tipping is never compulsory, but gratuities go a long way! While our guides are always compensated for their tour time, they often put in hours of work off the clock rehearsing and researching to give you the best experience possible.
Can I Book a Private Tour or Party Group?
Absolutely! We’d love to be included in your next date night, anniversary, birthday, bachelorette/bachelor party, or other special occasion. Send us an email at MillAveGhostTours@gmail.com for more information.
